We all have some old leather jackets or bags that we don't use anymore. You can make tons of stuff out of them. I torn my father's old leather jacket some time ago and still had some left over leather so I decided to make a clutch. Do you want to try to make one? It's easy, really!
You will start with two identical pieces - one leather piece and one lining.

Determine where the sides of your clutch will end - mark it with a pen. Sew the pieces together (wrong side out) only around the closure part and the opposite side like it's shown in the photo below.

When you turn it the right side out it should look like this.

Turn it the wrong side out again and fold it as shown on the photo below. You will need to sew the sides of leather pieces and then the sides of the lining (just one side of the lining actually).

I absolutely loved this clutch and I can't wait to make my own. Just one question, how did you cut the leather?

I have an old leather coat that I got at a swap that has some damage and is too small, but was thinking of turning it into a bag. Thanks for the inspiration and the great tutorial.
I have some Italian leather scraps left over from making furniture - great price too! I have many more not listed yet as well.
